Powerplay Case Study 01
Sui

An Embedded Design Team
Sui, a startup focusing on a cutting edge blockchain experience, brought Powerplay on as a generalist design resource. Their business was moving at a lightning-fast pace
and they had become increasingly
frustrated with the sluggish turnarounds they'd been getting
from larger design agencies.

In the year we worked with Sui, we developed a wide array of materials, including online education presentations, pitch decks for investors, large-scale event designs and presentations, social media graphics, and just about any design-related task they threw at us.
Situation
Larger agencies often come with great expense and slow delivery times. Because Sui brought us in-house, we were able to deliver assets same day, in many cases, and got to know their team members well--acting as that embedded design team they didn't yet have.

By bringing Powerplay in-house, Sui could move us fluidly across teams so that we could quickly deliver results for marketing, engineering, education and C-suite with any of their design-related asks.

Action
Sui's mission is an impressive and ambitious one, and they didn't have time to wait around for agencies to deliver. We needed to be embedded and scrappy, helping with myriad requests and assisting team members by utilizing our decades of experience.

We loved working closely with the Sui team, getting to know more about their goals and deliverables and pushing the envelope in working with and refining their existing design system.
Output & Results
While Sui searched for a Design Director and built a marketing team, we were able to assist them as an embedded design team, and carry the weight as they rapidly grew.

We hit the ground running, juggling aggressive timelines and multiple, simultaneous requests from across the global organization, including Developer Relations, Education, and Events.
The presentation design and event collateral Powerplay delivered were vital to Sui's mission, which focused on the international Web3 community and builder engagement, and necessitated clear, concise visual articulation of highly technical concepts and complex data.
